Argentinian right-wing President Javier Milei declared on Sunday his intention to run for re‑election in the October 2027 general elections, vowing to press ahead with economic and political reforms during a Radio Mitre interview.

The president claimed that the country now stands in a superior position compared to the situation inherited upon taking office in 2023. He specifically cited a reduction in the poverty rate and stability in consumption levels and Gross Domestic Product as concrete results backing his future bid. His remarks, however, made no mention of growing criticism over the precarization of daily life, rising unemployment, and the unprotected situation of retirees.

Under the institutional calendar, Milei’s current term is set to end on December 10, 2027, with the general vote taking place in October of that year, following the same electoral process that formalized the victory of his La Libertad Avanza party in the previous cycle. 

A national survey released by the consulting firm CEOP Latam, directed by Roberto Bacman, found that 52% of Argentinian identify as opposition to the government, against 32% who define themselves as pro‑administration and 15.1% as independents. 

The same study indicated that the opposition bloc draws support from various political sectors that challenge the current economic direction.
