Arab Countries Express Condolences To Iran After Massive Explosion

Several Arab countries expressed their condolences and solidarity to Iran on Saturday following the massive explosion at the port of Shahid Rajai in the southern city of Bandar Abbas, which left at least eight dead and nearly 750 wounded.

The massive explosion occurred at noon in Iran, when several containers containing chemicals, which have not yet been identified according to official Iranian sources, exploded on the docks of the Shahid Rajai port in the Strait of Hormuz.

After these events, Saudi Arabia, Iraq, the United Arab Emirates (UAE) and Qatar, among others, also offered “any help” that Iran may need to deal with the consequences of the explosion.

“The kingdom expresses its sincere condolences and solidarity to the Islamic Republic of Iran following the explosion,” said the Saudi Foreign Ministry, which deplored the human losses caused by the incident.

Several personalities from Qatar, including Emir Tamim bin Hamad al-Thani, sent a similar message expressing their condolences to the Iranian president, Masud Pezeshkian, and mourning for the deaths and wishing prompt recovery to the wounded.

Iraq, for its part, also affirmed its solidarity and underlined its “readiness to provide support to mitigate the effects of the tragedy, stressing “the importance of strengthening regional and international cooperation in the face of challenges of this kind.”

On the other hand, United Arab Emirates and Kuwait also expressed their “sincere condolences” to Tehran, deploring the victims and material damage caused.

For its part, the Turkmenistan’s FM, Rashid Meredov, expressed his condolences to the government and people of Iran for the explosion in the port of Shahid Rajiv during a telephone conversation with the Iranian Foreign Minister, Araqchi. Araqchi thanked the message and said that Iranian authorities are working to help the victims.
