Since the implementation of new U.S.- and Israeli-backed food distribution centers in Gaza on May 27, at least 126 Palestinians have been killed while attempting to access aid, according to Palestinian resistance factions, including Hamas.
The Gaza Humanitarian Foundation (GHF), supported by Israel and the U.S., has replaced UN-led aid distribution, but Palestinian groups accuse it of political manipulation, aiming to shift the Palestinian struggle into a mere humanitarian crisis.
The UN Relief and Works Agency (UNRWA), previously responsible for aid distribution, has been banned by Israel, which claims it has ties to Hamas. However, Palestinian factions argue that UNRWA is the only entity capable of ensuring safe and dignified food distribution.
On Sunday, Gaza’s Health Ministry reported five deaths and over 120 injuries near two aid centers in southern and central Gaza. The GHF admitted it could not operate on Saturday, citing alleged threats from Hamas.
Human rights organizations have criticized the new aid system, stating that it forces Palestinians to travel long distances for minimal food rations, without security guarantees.
Palestinian factions have called on the international community to investigate the U.S. role in these incidents and pressure Israel to restore UN-led humanitarian aid channels.
