Venezuela Thanks Russia for Its Support for Future BRICS Membership

“We support your aspiration to join the work of BRICS. Venezuela is an old and reliable partner of Russia,” Putin said.
On Thursday, Venezuelan Vice President Delcy Rodriguez expressed gratitude for Russia’s support in Venezuela’s bid to become a future member of BRICS, the economic cooperation group led by Brazil, Russia, India, China, and South Africa.

“We thank President Vladimir Putin for his unconditional support for Venezuela’s entry into BRICS,” she said during the 16th BRICS Summit, held in the Russian city of Kazan.
“Our country has a deep historical doctrine, whose values, inherited from the liberator Simon Bolivar, align with the principles that inspire this bloc to build a multipolar world free of hegemonies,” Rodriguez pointed out.
“With its immense energy reserves, Venezuela will make a great contribution to BRICS in the construction of a new international economic order!” she added.
Earlier, on Wednesday, President Vladimir Putin and President Nicolas Maduro held a meeting on the sidelines of the BRICS Summit.
“We support your aspiration to join the work of BRICS. Venezuela is an old and reliable partner of Russia in Latin America,” the Russian leader said.
Putin also took the opportunity to thank Maduro for attending the Kazan summit and for his political support for Russia amid the attacks by Ukraine and other Western countries.
