At the 44th FAO Conference, Venezuela presented its advances in agrifood production and communal economic models, emphasizing food sovereignty and peace diplomacy under President Nicolas Maduro’s leadership.

During the 44th session of the Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO) Conference, a high-level Venezuelan delegation met with FAO Director-General Qu Dongyu to showcase the country’s strides in agrifood production, communal economy, and international peace efforts. This engagement underscores Venezuela’s commitment to a people-centered, resilient economic model rooted in food sovereignty and social inclusion.

Vice Minister Tibisay León outlined Venezuela’s strategic agri-food policy framework, grounded in the Plan de la Patria, the Plan of the 7 Transformations, and the 13 Productive Engines. León emphasized the country’s transition toward a territorially based, communal, and life-centered economy, designed to foster resilience and sustainability amid global challenges.

Johander Pineda, spokesperson for the El Maizal Socialist Commune, shared firsthand experiences of how grassroots communes have increased food production through self-management and collective planning.

This communal approach has been replicated nationwide, illustrating the vital role of popular power in Venezuela’s productive transformation and food sovereignty.

In a significant diplomatic gesture, Vice Minister William Castillo extended an official invitation on behalf of President Nicolás Maduro to FAO Director-General Qu Dongyu to participate in Venezuela’s upcoming World Peace Summit. This forum aims to foster global dialogue, understanding, and cooperation among peoples, reinforcing Venezuela’s active role in peace diplomacy.
