    Since 1992, the United Nations General Assembly has been supporting Cuba and calling for an end to the U.S. economic blockade on the island.

Despite the historic moves to reestablish full diplomatic ties with Cuba, the United States maintains its economic blockade on the island.

There is virtual consensus both within the United States and in the international community, that the blockade is detrimental to the Cuban people and to peace. For more than two decades, member states at the United Nations has been calling for an end to the blockade.
