The singer accused the Republican politician of attacking the working class and deporting residents without due process.
On Wednesday, at the opening show of the 2025 leg of his “Land of Hope and Dreams” tour at Co-op Live in Manchester, Bruce Springsteen harshly criticized U.S. President Donald Trump.

“My home, the America that I love, the America that I’ve written about, which has been a beacon of hope and freedom for 250 years, is currently in the hands of a corrupt, incompetent, and treasonous administration,” he said.
“Tonight, we ask all who believe in democracy and the best of our American spirit to rise with us, raise your voices against authoritarianism… The last check on power, after the checks and balances of government have failed, are the people — you and me. It’s in the union of people around a common set of values. Now that’s all that stands between democracy and authoritarianism. So at the end of the day, all we’ve really got is each other,” the U.S. singer added.
Springsteen also accused the Trump administration of suppressing freedom of speech, attacking the American working class, deporting residents without due process, siding with dictators, abandoning the world’s poorest children, and rolling back historic civil rights laws.
On Friday, the Republican politician responded to Springsteen’s remarks with a threatening message posted on social media.
“I see that highly overrated Bruce Springsteen goes to a foreign country to speak badly about the President of the United States. Never liked him, never liked his music, or his radical left politics and, importantly, he’s not a talented guy — just a pushy, obnoxious JERK, who fervently supported Crooked Joe Biden, a mentally incompetent FOOL, and our WORST EVER President, who came close to destroying our country,” Trump said.
“If I wasn’t elected, it would have been GONE by now! Sleepy Joe didn’t have a clue as to what he was doing, but Springsteen is ‘dumb as a rock,’ and couldn’t see what was going on — or could he (which is even worse!)?”
“This dried out ‘prune’ of a rocker (his skin is all atrophied!) ought to KEEP HIS MOUTH SHUT until he gets back into the country, that’s just ‘standard fare.’ Then we’ll all see how it goes for him!” the U.S. president warned.
The American singer, a well-known Democratic voter, has criticized Trump since the former president first announced his candidacy in 2016, when Springsteen requested that his song Born in the U.S.A. no longer be played at Trump campaign rallies. During Trump’s first term (2017–2021), Springsteen released the song “That’s What Makes Us Great,” in which he referred to the Republican politician as a “con man.”
