On the occasion of International Women’s Day, celebrated on Saturday, March 8, the Palestinian Central Bureau of Statistics released a report revealing that 12,316 women have lost their lives due to the military intrusion into the Gaza Strip since October 2023.

The report underscores the dire challenges and tragic reality faced by vulnerable groups as a result of the war. Nearly one million displaced persons are women, and around 14,000 have lost their partners during the conflict, becoming the sole providers for their families.

Part of their routine involves balancing childcare with earning a living under distressing economic conditions, compounded by harassment and destruction.

Women in the region “face a daunting task that goes beyond rebuilding their homes; it involves healing souls and restoring trust in a harsh world that has forced them to live between the pain of loss and insatiable hope,” stated the report from the Palestinian Central Bureau of Statistics.

The report not only highlights the devastating human losses but also the health and psychological challenges facing the Palestinian nation.

The death of 17,861 children in Gaza “is not just a passing number; it is a deep wound in the memory of mothers who found their children’s dreams buried under the rubble of aggression,” it asserted.
