Copy Editor
teleSUR English is looking to recruit a Copy Editor to join our team in Quito, Ecuador
Copy Editors are responsible for:
- Correcting spelling mistakes and grammatical errors in web and social media articles and videos
- Ensure consistent house style and keeping guides up to date
- Participate in a feedback process over style with editors and writers
- Working with social media and video team to ensure style consistency
- Resolving queries e.g. style and text inconsistencies
- Ensuring that illustrations are correctly captioned
- Maintaining awareness of new words or phrases coming into popular usage
- Translating or writing articles as assigned
- Web management duties as assigned
Candidates must have:
- English as a first language
- High proficiency in grammar, spelling and usage of AP style
- Fluency in Spanish
- Experience in translation
- Ability to recognize significant translation errors
Other desirable skills and experience:
- A working knowledge of web content management systems, HTML and SEO
- General knowledge of Latin American current political reality and history and
- Video Script writing
