"We’re aware that some people are currently having trouble accessing the Facebook family of apps," wrote Facebook on its official Twitter account.

Diverse social media platforms linked to  Facebook have been partially down Wednesday for users around the world. For some, the apps function normally, however, many have been reporting issues with the platforms, such as being unable to post on the feed, commenting, sending messages, etc. The social media corporation had to use its account on the rival platform, Twitter, to inform about the problems.

"We’re aware that some people are currently having trouble accessing the Facebook family of apps," wrote Facebook on its official Twitter account followed by around 13.5 million people around the world. Said "Facebook family of apps" includes the Instagram platform.

Today, Facebook has around 2.3 billion users and it is suffering from its most drastic interruption of services ever. The last time was in 2008 when the platform had around 150 million users.

Later on Wednesday, the company tweeted that they "can confirm that the issue is not related to a DDoS (Distributed Denial of Service) attack," in response to slam rumors emerging from other social media outlets that the company was being targeted. This kind of attack implicates the flooding of the bandwidth or resources of a specific system with immense volumes of traffic.

Facebook is the world's largest social media company and ironically had to rely on its "rival" to give some explanation to its users. "We’re working to resolve the issue as soon as possible," wrote Facebook on its Twitter account.

Whatsapp, that appeared to be fine for most users, started to present problems in several countries, such as India, Argentina, Bangladesh, Paraguay, and many others. Users experienced problems with sending messages throughout the afternoon, Wednesday. According to some users, even Oculus VR, that is also owned by Facebook, is experiencing issues related to the outage.
