Chinese Vice Premier Sun Chunlan has urged Hubei Province, the most affected area, to make more significant efforts and take more decisive measures to win the battle against the new coronavirus epidemic.

Among the latest developments reported is that Huanggang City, one of the most affected by the epidemic in Hubei Province, has added 17 designated hospitals. The city now has 30 designated hospitals, 127 fever clinics, and ten testing institutions that can perform more than 900 tests per day.

Also, according to Wu Zunyou, an epidemiology expert at the Chinese Center for Disease Control and Prevention, 83 percent of the cluster outbreaks of new coronavirus infection were among family members.

To date, Wuhan has mobilized more than 34,000 officials, government workers, and members of the Chinese Communist Party in its 1,100 communities to fight the epidemic.

Also, a total of 560,000 health workers in China's vast rural areas have taken online courses on the new coronavirus epidemic to improve their skills in controlling the outbreak, a National Health Commission official said Tuesday.

Meanwhile, China's Ministry of Transport issued a circular on Tuesday to ensure safe and smooth transportation for migrant workers returning to work.

Thanks to the quarantine measures lifted, some 94.6 percent of the country's primary grain production and processing enterprises have resumed production.

Another significant development is that on Monday, a total of 3,996 patients infected with the virus were released from the hospital after achieving a full recovery.

However, Wuhan, the so-called epicenter of the outbreak, has put in place stricter measures to curb the spread of the new Coronavirus, reporting that suspected cases with mild symptoms will be quarantined and that all residential communities will be closed.

China's National Health Commission said Tuesday it received reports of 2,478 new confirmed cases of the new coronavirus infection and 108 deaths on Monday in 31 provincial-level regions.

By the end of Monday, a total of 1,016 people had died from the disease, and 42,638 confirmed cases had been reported only in mainland China.
