Massive crowds in Iran celebrated the 41st anniversary of the Islamic Revolution despite the ongoing tensions with the U.S. and Saudi Arabia.

The 41st anniversary of the Islamic Revolution did not go unnoticed in Iran on Tuesday, even though tensions between Islamic Republic and the United States have recently increased following the assassination of General Qassem Soleimani in Baghdad. The Iranian people celebrated the date with massive demonstrations denouncing the recent sanctions by Washington and its campaign of maximum pressure against the country.

The Islamic Revolution is "not limited" to Iran, it involves other Muslim states as well, which will allow "the American superpower to be expelled from the region," President Hassan Rouhani told the cowd in the capital, Tehran.

Washington's "maximum pressure" campaign against Tehran has failed to get the Iranians to "bend the knee," he added, as the crowd chanted the now traditional chants of "Death to America" and "Death to Israel" and held up banners reading these slogans.

The celebration was not only held in the Iranian capital, as at least half a dozen cities outside Tehran commemorated the anniversary of the Islamic Revolution, including Mashhad, Ahvaz, and Kerman. In some of these areas, people took to the streets despite the frigid temperatures, and held up their banners, as heavy snow fell on them.

The 41st anniversary of the Islamic Revolution was the perfect occasion to denounce the recent sanctions by the government of President Donald Trump against the Atomic Energy Organization of Iran, among other entities, measures that were announced by the head of the White House two weeks ago.

Likewise, the Palestinian people once again rejected the Middle East peace plan recently proposed by Donald Trump.

Although tensions between the United States and Iran are longstanding, this may be the most critical moment in the last decade, according to experts, due to the possibility of a potential war between the two nations.

Last month, a U.S. strike from non-piloted aircraft killed Iranian military commander, Qassem Soleimani, in Baghdad. This unpunished act led Iran to retaliate with a missile barrage against the U.S. forces in Iraq days later.
