Pakistani foreign minister said that according to a concrete intelligence report, India is planning an attack on its neighbor between April 16 and 20.

Pakistan’s Foreign Minister Shah Mahmood Qureshi Sunday said that his government received reliable intelligence that India was planning to attack Pakistan between April 16 and April 20.

The ambassadors of the permanent members of the United Nations Security Council (UNSC) in the capital city Islamabad had been intimated of the possible attack.

"Preparations are being made, and there are chances of another attack against Pakistan. According to our information, the action could be taken between April 16 and 20,” said Qureshi.

"A new mishap could be staged in Indian-occupied Kashmir, just like [the] Pulwama [attack]. And its purpose will be to justify their [India's] offensive against Pakistan and to increase diplomatic pressure against Islamabad,” Qureshi explained.

In February an attack on India’s central reserve police force convoy in the Indian occupied Kashmir left around 40 personnel dead leading to war-mongering by India’s far-right government.

India blamed Pakistan for the attacks and attacked its territory without being able to cause any damage. Since then, firing or aggression around both countries’ line of control (LOC) became a regular occurrence. Especially with Indian elections around the corner on April 11, the Indian Hindu nationalist Prime Minister Narendra Modi and its administration are using aggression against Pakistan as a tactic to gain votes.

"If it [action by India] happens, you can imagine the impact of the occurrence on the peace and stability of the region," Qureshi warned, adding, "We want the international community to take notice of this irresponsible behavior and reprimand them [India] for taking this route.”

In February, during a stand-off between the two nuclear powers, India claimed that it shot down one of Pakistan’s F-16 combat jet.

However, the United States based Foreign Policy magazine, citing U.S. officials, said all of Pakistan’s F-16 combat jets had been accounted for, contradicting an Indian air force assessment.

“The truth always prevails and is always the best policy,” Pakistan's Prime Minister Imran Khan said in a Tweet. “BJP’s attempt to win elections through whipping up war hysteria and false claims of downing a Pak F 16 has backfired with US Defence officials also confirming that no F16 was missing from Pakistan’s fleet.”

As a sign of apparently easing tensions, Pakistan said Friday it would release 360 Indian prisoners this month. The first hundred were released Sunday.

On Sunday afternoon, Pakistan announced that they have summoned the Indian ambassador in response to this alleged planned attack.

“Indian deputy high commissioner was summoned for demarche in line with Foreign Minister’s briefing of today and warned against any misadventure,” Pakistani Foreign Office spokesman Mohammad Faisal said in a Tweet.
