Lula Plans to Sue His Accusers in Brazil

According to Brasil 247 website, the former president has four complaints against his opponents. This time, the founder of the Workers' Party (PT) will be the one who sues, reported the site.

Journalist Mônica Bergamo disclosed that the first trial would come up soon in the Brazilian newspaper Folha de Sao Paulo. It is expected that the Supreme Court of Justice will judge the case against former prosecutor Deltan Dallagnol, who coordinated the dismantled judicial operation Lava Jato next week. Lula is demanding to be compensated with a figure of nearly US$ 195 thousand for moral damages.  
 
Deltan Dallagnol is being accused of abuse of power concerning the imputation to Lula of criminal practices in 2016, which was not proven in court. For its part, Brazil's Supreme Court Justice Ricardo Lewandowski suspended on March 2 the last remaining criminal proceedings against former president Lula.  

Lewandowski warned that the irregularities presented in the allegations of Lula's accusers have been manifested in other cases and are therefore evidence of their deficiency and disrespect for the legal duty to ensure justice.

Lula's defense asked for the suspension, disapproving of the conspiracy carried out against the PT leader. He considers that the accusations against him were based on false evidence compiled by a biased persecution operation.   

The case involved accusations of alleged influence-peddling and corruption in purchasing fighter jets. Lula was convicted in two Lava Jato cases that have now been discontinued.

The Brazilian politician was able to recover his eligibility in 2021. He recorded an incredible amount of 22 victories in the Federal Supreme Court. Now, Lula has recovered his political rights and leads all opinion polls for the upcoming elections.
