A politician and former campaign manger for the Venezuela opposition has made an appeal for pundits to respect the will of the people, and to not "ignore reality."

Claudio Fermin, politician and the former campaign manager for Henri Falcon, the opposition candidate for president which now-President Nicolas Maduro won on May 20, made an appeal for people to respect the political process of Venezuela.

On Tuesday, Fermin said,  "we can’t ignore reality. I’m making a call to get your head out of the clouds. This is not a case of a president pro tempore” and stressed that “a government is legitimized by its own citizens.”Referring the new board of the National Assembly (AN), he said they have "the difficult task of finding a way to remove the lack of authority the Assembly has" and added that "Juan Guaidó has emerged to do politics in times where people don’t believe in that policy, and he is now president of the AN. I feel represented."

Additionally, he stated that "it is a fact that Maduro won the elections of May 20," despite the continuing challenges regarding the results and the claims of irregularities.

This statement comes amid the backdrop of the Venezuelan state having accused Washington of promoting a coup d’etat by imposing a “puppet government” in the nation, according to the Venezuelan Foreign Ministry.
