The 2nd World Congress on Marxism is expected to draw over 300 Marxist researchers and academics to discuss his relevance in the 21st century and processes of constructing socialism. Its theme is 'Marxism and the current world and China,' and there will be 17 subforums.

Xi will be giving a speech at the conference's opening in the Great Hall of the People in Beijing.

In 2015, over 200 scholars from around the globe attended the First World Congress on Marxism. The event is organized by Peking University's school of Marxism.

According to a statement from the university, the congress "represents a real step forward in international understanding in the circle of Marxist and radical philosophy. It is a chance for philosophers from all over the world simply to talk and listen to one another."

The head of the organizing committee told Xinhua news agency that the congress seeks to explore the "China road, China theory and China experience" with academics from around the world.

The event will run from May 5 to May 6.
