Will Byler and Bailee Ackerman Byler had just celebrated what was supposed to be the happiest day of their lives, and were flying over the Byler family ranch in southern Texas, along with Vietnam veteran and pilot, Gerald Green Lawrence, when the helicopter they were traveling in, spun out of control and crashed - killing all three.

Texas sweethearts Will Byler and Bailee Ackerman Byler had just celebrated their wedding in front of hundreds of family and friends last Saturday, and decided on a spectacular exit by hopping into a helicopter and flying over the Byler family ranch in Uvalde, 85 miles west of San Antonio.

Unfortunately, the couple, along with pilot Gerald Green Lawrence - a veteran of the war in Vietnam, perished when their Bell 206B - a two-bladed twin-engine helicopter, crashed only one hour after the couple had been married.

Both were students at Sam Houston State University, where Will had been studying Agricultural Engineering, and Bailee Agricultural Communication.

In a statement, the university's student president said the married couple will "always be remembered by their kind hearts and uplifting spirits".

The helicopter was being flown by Lawrence, a U.S. Army captain who had served in Vietnam.
