From the Miraflores Palace, the Venezuelan leader held a meeting with representatives of the opposition political party Copei.

The Venezuelan Minister of Communication, Jorge Rodríguez, highlighted the dialogue between President Nicolás Maduro and representatives of the opposition Social Christian Party (Copei)

During a press conference, Rodriguez took stock of the three meetings that the Venezuelan leader had with representatives of the public and private media, then with public and private banks, to complete his agenda of dialogue with representatives of the opposition party.

The meeting held at the Miraflores Palace indicated that the meeting with the opposition leaders took place within the framework of the dialogue agenda promoted by the Government.

The Venezuelan minister indicated that during the meeting, proposals were exchanged between both parties, the opposition and the government, to achieve more clarity on economic and social issues.

He said that although the proposals are different, "there is no doubt that dialogue is the way to solve the country's problems."

For his part, the president of Copei Pedro Pablo Fernandez indicated that President Maduro asked him to bring a dialogue agenda, to which he replied that his only issue was the imprisoned politicians.

Fernandez made reference to opposition leader Leopoldo López, who is being held up for promoting violent protests during 2014 in which more than 40 people were killed.

He also stated that many times they resisted participating in the calls for dialogue made by the Government.

The Copei representative added that they are planning to bring a new agenda to the Government to "bring solutions to the economic problems of the country."
