Venezuela to Host Latin American Student Congress in 2019

The announcement was made at a recent conference held, in Mexico City, to discuss issues and agendas with politicians, social leaders, academics and students.

Venezuela was recently chosen as the host for the Latin American and Caribbean Students Congress (CLAE), according to the Secretariat of the Youth’s Socialist Party of Venezuela (PSUV)).

CLAE is an event designed to bring together students from all over Latin America and the Caribbean with the purpose of analyzing current affairs and the social challenges facing pupils. CLAE was founded in 1996 and is headquartered in Havana, Cuba. The organization is composed of 24 member countries.

Among some of the organization's main goals are: fighting for the eradication of illiteracy, better access to education, students well-being and equal education opportunities, the defense of university autonomy, a joint government in student centers, freedom and plurality in academia.

The announcement was made at a recent conference held, in Mexico City, to discuss issues and agendas with politicians, social leaders, academics and students. The Venezuelan delegation, in attendance, comprised Rodbexa Poleo, coordinator of the PSUV youth chapter; Rander Peña, national commissioner of International Relations; and Fernando Rios, deputy and executive secretary of the party, as well as Carlos Soto, Latin America’s PSUV youth coordinator.
