Venezela’s seismology research center, Funvisis, has reported that underwater volcano Kick ‘em Jenny, located to the north of Granada, is “presenting elevated seismic activity,” which could cause a tsunami to hit Venezuela’s coast.
Trinidad and Tobago’s Seismic Research Center, in charge of monitoring the volcano, has declared an orange level alert – the second most serious. It means that there could be an eruption within 24 hours. If there is, it would take a tsunami 1.5 hours to reach the Venezuelan coast.
Venezuelan president, Nicolas Maduro, said authorities were prepared.
