If the underwater volcano errupts, a tsunami would take 1.5 hours to reach the Venezuelan coast.

Venezela’s seismology research center, Funvisis, has reported that underwater volcano Kick ‘em Jenny, located to the north of Granada, is “presenting elevated seismic activity,” which could cause a tsunami to hit Venezuela’s coast.

Trinidad and Tobago’s Seismic Research Center, in charge of monitoring the volcano, has declared an orange level alert – the second most serious. It means that there could be an eruption within 24 hours. If there is, it would take a tsunami 1.5 hours to reach the Venezuelan coast.

Venezuelan president, Nicolas Maduro, said authorities were prepared.

Measures have been taken in order act in any circumstance (that arises). We should stay calm and be alert to how the situation evolves
