Venezuelan Minister of Communication Jorge Rodríguez Jorge Rodriguez said "all operations conducive to the maintenance of public safety and public tranquility" were ordered.
Venezuela's Minister of Communication and Culture Jorge Rodriguez announced Tuesday that work and educational activities are suspended for 24 hours, in order to facilitate the rehabilitation works of the national electricity service, which suffered two new attacks on Monday.
"The Bolivarian government has deployed, from the begining of the attacks, all its efforts to restore, as soon as possible, the electric service across the national territory," he said in a Twitter message.
As of Tuesday morning electricity services began to be restored in Caracas, in areas such as Jardines del Valle, El Valle and La California Norte.
Vice President Rodriguez also explained that the national electric system "suffered [on Monday] two terrorist attacks carried out by violent people who sow anxiety in the population as a way of achieving their destabilizing ends."
The first blackout, which had similar characteristics to the one perpetrated on March 7, happened at 1:29 pm local time and was quickly overcome.
"We reached, as of 7:00 pm, the highest electricity generation levels at the national electric system since the terrorist attack of March 7. The electricity distribution was behaving in a robust and harmonious manner until 9:47 p.m., when criminal hands provoked a big fire in the Guri transmission facility", Rodriguez said and explained that such act affected both three electrical transformers and all the essential transmission wiring.
In all the history of the Venezuelan electric system, Rodriguez commented, “there has not been such a big attack,” which demonstrates that "these terrorists, whose actions have no limits, are protected by warmongers that make up the military, financial and media framework of those supremacists who are currently ruling the U.S. and seeking the hegemonic control of the global geopolitical realm."
The Vice President, nevertheless, was certain that "we will defeat this electricity war with the immense force that we, as a people, have accumulated in our fight against rude empires and their local lackeys."
