The Russia-Venezuela High Commission is meeting in Sochi, Russia to discuss bilateral collaboration in agriculture, industry, technology, mining, education, defense and health.

Venezuelan Minister of Defense Vladimir Padrino Lopez, Minister of Agriculture and Land Wilmar Castro Soteldo and Ambassador to Europe Yvan Gil are heading talks for the South American country. Soteldo said the meeting represents “an important advance for technology and commercial trade between Venezuela and Russia.”
Representatives are also looking to create bilateral agreements for land, train, air and sea transportation, which will be finalized Friday.
Over the past 15 years, both countries have signed several bilateral agreements regarding infrastructure, construction and oil extraction.
"Imperialist (countries) are attacking us, blocking us and closing doors with an entire part of the world," Gil said.
"Russia is opening its doors ... and welcomes us as equals in these agreements."
Venezuela’s Ministry of Foreign Relations said President Nicolas Maduro is sure that “communities in the country will enjoy the fruits” of these talks.
The meeting forms part of the Russia-Venezuela High Commission formed in 2000.
