Venezuela, Antigua And Barbuda Continue To Strengthen Relations

Venezuela’s foreign minister, Jorge Arreaza, met on Tuesday with the Antigua and Barbuda Prime Minister Gaston Browne to further strengthen the political and diplomatic cooperation between the two countries.

Arreaza and Browne met at the Caracas Miraflores palace to discuss how to keep consolidating their regional agenda. They discussed the "imperial onslaught" brought on by the U.S. and its allies against Venezuela. Pence is on a tour of several right-wing Latin American governments this week trying to increase the anti-Venezuela sentiment in the region.

Venezuela’s foreign minister told the press after the meeting that he and Browne went over their bilateral agreements and looked at advancing new projects during their reunion.

The Antigua and Barbuda government has long supported the Venezuelan government. In March Sir Ronald Sanders, Antigua and Barbuda’s Ambassador to the Organization of American States (OAS) withdrew from last April’s OAS summit in Peru on point of principle after OAS countries boycotted Venezuela from the meeting.

Venezuela, for its part, sent airplane loads of supplies, including medicine and water, to its neighbor island when Antigua and Barbuda was devastated by last year’s Hurricane Irma.
