According to Guterres, Cuba's relationship with the United Nations has been productive.

The Secretary-General of the United Nations, Antonio Guterres, praised Cuba's role in the region toward building peace and multilateral cooperation.

Speaking to reporters, responding to a question from Cuban media agency Prensa Latina, Guterres said that Cuba's participation in the negotiations with the former Revolutionary Armed Forces of Colombia (FARC) and the Colombian government was essential, and praised their current role in the peace process with the National Liberation Army (ELN).

to Guterres, Cuba's relationship with the United Nations has also been productive. He recently visited Havana to attend sessions of the Economic Commission for Latin America and the Caribbean (ECLAC), of which Cuba is an important participant.

“ECLAC is, in my opinion, an extremely effective regional economic institution,” Guterres said and further stating that the organization is for him a reference point for leading similar processes in other regions.

The Secretary-General also spoke about Nicaragua during the press conference, saying that the United Nations is very concerned about the violence and would continue to call for talks and political dialogue.
