The delegation praised the politician’s continual push for justice and peace both inside and outside of Parliament.

U.K. media's failure to report the U.N. naming Labour party Leader Jeremy Corbyn as 2017’s Sean MacBride Peace Prize winner has sparked criticism from every corner of social media.

Together with political activist Noam Chomsky and a Japanese anti-military base group, Corbyn was awarded the prestigious honor Friday in Geneva for his tireless efforts for peace and pursuit of human rights over the last 34 years.

“As an active member, vice-chair and now vice-president of the Campaign for Nuclear Disarmament in the UK he (Corbyn) has for many years worked to further the political message of nuclear disarmament,” the International Peace Bureau said in a press release.

The delegation praised the politician’s continual push for the justice and peace “both in and outside” Parliament. “He has ceaselessly stood by the principles, which he has held for so long, to ensure true security and well-being for all – for his constituents, for the citizens of the UK and for the people of the world,” the statement continued.

However, Brits were surprised when mainstream media outlets failed to cover the political triumph with independent international companies such as RT and PressTV coming first in breaking the story.

Social media users criticized the media’s failure to report on the politician’s prestigious win, publicly calling attention to the incident with others postulated national party politics may have played a role in the alleged purposeful oversight.

“#BBCNews is it true Jeremy Corbyn won an international peace prize this weekend, just I'm yet to see/hear it on any of your news programs,” one Twitter user wrote Sunday.

The Sean MacBride award was created in memory of Amnesty International’s founding member and 1974 Nobel Peace Prize winner, Sean MacBride whose groundbreaking efforts as a peace advocate still shine as an example to all social activists around the world.

During his speech at the United Nations in Geneva Friday, Corbyn called for an international and united effort to advance the cause of human rights to address the “four greatest and interconnected threats facing our humanity”: neoliberalism, climate change, the refugee crisis and unilateral militarized action.

Despite the public’s online outrage, many British media outlets have maintained their position, reporting on everything from Corbyn’s new Christmas sweater to his position on Brexit, but not a word on the politicians' prestigious win.
