The documentaries shed light on the lives of Dreamers, a name associated with minors who could potentially benefit from an Obama-era immigration act called "Development, Relief, and Education for Alien Minors Act," or DREAM act that was recently revoked by the Trump administration.
The documentary, " I Was Born in Mexico, But..." made by Corey Ohama, an award-winning director, tells the stories of minors who were born in the Central American country of Mexico but have grown up in the United States, hiding and dodging questions about where they were born, sometimes even alienated because of the issue.
"Vida Diferida" or Life, Deferred" by Brenda Avila-Hanna, an independent filmmaker born and raised in Mexico, highlights the lives of two young immigrant women who grew up without Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals, DACA, and then saw the life-changing legislation passed only to see it repealed by the current U.S. administration.
