This Republican governor has five days to decide on whether to approve what is arguably the most extreme abortion ban in the United States in decades.

Oklahoma Governor and staunch Donald Trump supporter Mary Fallin may pass an unconstitutional anti-abortion bill passed by the Republican legislature, which would lead to an expensive legal battle, despite the state facing a huge budget crunch, it was revealed Thursday.

Fallin has not yet spoken as to whether she intends to sign the abortion ban, but her actions will are expected to be scrutinized nationally, as she is a contender for the spot of Republican presidential candidate Donald Trump’s vice president.

Having garnered national attention for her early support for the GOP nominee, Trump has called the suggestion of Fallin as vice president “great advice.” Fallin, in response, has said she would be “honored” to join his team.

The proposed bill is being deemed as the most extreme abortion ban. It would essentially ban abortion in the state. It would also make it a felony for physicians to perform abortions, even revoking their licenses if they did, unless the abortion was to save the life of the mother.

“We are looking at this law very closely," said Julie Rikelman, litigation director for the Center for Reproductive Rights, as published in Talking Points Memo. "Because if it is signed into law, it will be the most extreme abortion ban in the country in years and clearly unconstitutional."

Under Fallin, Oklahoma has enacted 18 bills that restrict access to reproductive services. About half have been subject to legal challenges, while some have been knocked down by courts.
