The Dalai Lama told German reporters in the de facto capital of Tibet’s exiled government that “too many” refugees are entering Europe, the Washington Post reported Tuesday.
Speaking to Frankfurter Allgemeine Zeitung, a German newspaper, the global personality who is frequently presented as a saint-like figure in mainstream media reportedly said with a laugh, “Europe, for example Germany, cannot become an Arab country.”
Echoing the sentiments of far-right groups such as Europe’s anti-Islam PEGIDA movement and France’s Front National, His Holiness the Dalai Lama’s comments shouldn’t come as too shocking, given his history of aligning with despotism.
Many are regarding his perspectives on Syrian refugees in Europe as a bastion of hypocrisy since the Dalai Lama is a refugee himself, residing in India since the CIA-backed operation that trained and funded Tibetan fighters against China.
Despite having once remarked bizzarely that he is a Marxist, the righteous and noble face of Western imperialism was on the CIA’s payroll for decades.

China Official Says Dalai Lama 'Making a Fool' of Buddhism
Unopposed to the U.S.-led War on Terror in Iraq and Afghanistan, and a friend of notorious figures such as George W. Bush, Margaret Thatcher and Augusto Pinochet, it is unsurprising the Dalai Lama considers it morally suitable to only let refugees in temporarily.
Perhaps a new book deal is on the horizon for the Tibetan leader’s “bold” views on the migrant crisis. After all, a little xenophobia makes for excellent marketing.
