Temer was scheduled to visit several countries in the southeastern region of the continent in May. The Brazilian president has put off the trip to “concentrate” on the “legislative agenda,” El Dia is reporting.

Amid Temer's decision to remain in the country, his daughter, Maristela, will testify in an investigation which is reviewing money-laundering allegations involving repairs done to her premises. The money which paid for the repairs in cash, according to Folha, is suspected to have been generated from a bribe involving JBS corporation in a wide-scale port scandal.

No further details were given for the cancelation of the trip.
