Russian Military: More Than 100 Missiles Fired into Syria

The three countries consulted and collaborated on an assault in which more than a 100 missiles, reportedly targeting specific sites, were launched into Syria after the government was accused of a chemical attack.

Wannous reported that some semblance normalcy has returned as Syrians went about their day-to-day activities in Damascus and other provinces after this strike.

The Syrian Foreign Ministry, according to Wannous, condemns the attack on Damascus saying it threatens to disrupt stability and peace in the world.

The Russian military said most of the missiles were countered with anti-aircraft defense systems.

A section of a scientific research center outside Damascus was damaged and three civilians were also injured.

The Organisation for the Prohibition of Chemical Weapons (OPCW) released a statement Saturday saying the organization is in Syria to conduct an investigation into the allegation that the April 7 attack in Duma was a chemical one and will remain there until the task is complete. The group, which has been working with United Nations Department of Safety and Security, will continue the fact-finding mission.

OPCW has a responsibility “to establish facts surrounding allegations of the use of toxic chemicals, reportedly chlorine, for hostile purposes in the Syrian Arab Republic,” according to the statement.
