At least 43 soldiers were killed in a Taliban suicide bombing on a military base in Kandahar province in Southern Afghanistan, local media reported.

Tolo News channel said that two suicide bombers used Humvee vehicles to attack the base located in the Maiwand district. In addition to the fatalities, the attack wounded at least 24 others, according to a security source quoted by Tolo News.
Once the car bombs were detonated, other attackers opened fire on the Afghan troops.
Channel 1 TV News reported that the Afghan Ministry of Defense confirmed that there was an attack on a base of the Afghan National Army in Kandahar.
The conflict in Afghanistan has left 2,640 civilians dead and another 5,380 injured in the first nine months of 2017, according to the United Nations Assistance Mission in Afghanistan.
