Colombian singer, Shakira, criticized the government, now led by Ivan Duque, demanding more education "if we really want a change and a country in peace." The world-famous singer spoke during the announcement of the construction of two schools, lead by her foundation Pies Descalzos (Bare Feet) named after one of her most famous songs.
"When some children do not receive the same education as those who live in better conditions, we can not speak of a country in peace, we can not speak of a country that has equality, because education is that which gives us equality, it is that opportunity and that inalienable right that makes us all equal, that gives us all the same opportunity," Shakira said.
One of the most recognized artists in the history of Colombia, now living in Barcelona, visited her motherland to close her tour El Dorado World Tour, and to announce the construction of two new schools, lead by her Pies Descalzos Foundation and also by the Barca foundation from the Football Club Barcelona and La Caixa.
"A school opens and the world changes, when a school is built, everything improves, everything is transformed", said the artist in the presentation of one of the projects, in Barranquilla.
The schools will have high investments: 4.6 million dollars for which it will be built in the neighborhood of Villa de Aranjuez, in Cartagena; and 4.3 million dollars for the one that will be built in the Nuevo Bosque sector, in Barranquilla.
