Surveys have come under scathing attack for wrongly magnifying the chances of right-wing candidate Piñera during the first round of voting.

The survey conducted by Criteria Research published results on the presidential elections in Chile, in which it revealed the preferences of candidates by the Chilean people.

The poll corresponding to the month of November, started by asking "for which of these candidates would you vote?", And 47 percent of Chileans responded in favor of Sebastián Piñera, while 45 percent said they would choose Alejandro Guillier; another eight percent declared they would cast a blank vote.

Criteria highlighted that these results have a margin of error of 2.5 percent.

Those polled that answered the question of "who would you like to be the next president of Chile?" gave Piñera 43 percent, while 30 percent favor Senator Guillier; 27 percent said they would not choose any candidate.

"Who do you think will be the next president of Chile?" was the query that showed 51 percent in favor of former President Piñera, 42 percent for Guillier. The pollster indicated that these results may have a margin of error.

In addition to measuring preferences between the two main candidates, the poll measured the behavior of the voter during the first round that elected José Antonio Kast, Beatriz Sánchez, Carolina Goic and Marco Enríquez Ominami.

In these results, it was revealed that 77 percent of the respondents who were inclined towards Beatriz Sánchez, said that they would vote for Guillier. 75 percent supporters of far-right Kast would prefer the former president. While 63 percent of respondents who favor Goic, will select Guillier, and 19 percent Piñera.

Most survey companies in Chile are owned by supporters of Sebastian Piñera.
