Combs also expressed his intention to sign former San Francisco 49's quarterback, Colin Kaepernick, if the sale goes through.

U.S. hip-hop mogul and entrepreneur, Sean “Diddy” Combs tweeted his interest in purchasing the NFL football team, Carolina Panthers. The announcement was made after the sports team owner, Jerry Richardson, embroiled in sexual misconduct allegations, announced that he will sell his majority share in the team at the end of the 2018 season, according to various media reports.

“There are no majority African American NFL owners. Let's make history,” Combs also tweeted. His interest in purchasing the NFL team garnered interest from NBA basketball star, Stephen Curry, who Twitter responded, “I want in!”

Combs also expressed his intention to signing former San Francisco 49's quarterback, Colin Kaepernick, if the sale goes through.

Apart from his refusal to stand for the U.S. national anthem prior to the start of each game, Kaepernick, who remains unsigned by any NFL team despite his impressive sports record, has remained an outspoken critic of the U.S. government. During the 2016 U.S. presidential elections, he declared that voting in the country's two-party electoral system is a “nod to oppression,” saying, "I said from the beginning I was against oppression, I was against the system of oppression. I'm not going to show support for that system. And to me, the oppressor isn't going to allow you to vote your way out of your oppression."

Meanwhile, the NFL has put Richardson, owner of the Panthers since 1993, in somewhat of the hot seat, investigating the former fast food billionaire over a series of sexual misconduct claims. They range from, but by no means not limited to, brushing his hands across women's' breasts to giving female employees back rubs that “lingered too long or went too low down the spine,” according to Deadspin.

During his time as CEO of Flagstar, one-time owners of Denny's and Hardee's restaurants, Richardson was accused of incorporating racist practices. In the 1990s, several Black customers were denied service at Denny's unless they agreed to, unlike any other diner, pre-pay for their meals. Also, several Asian-American university students were forced to leave after having waited to be served for over half an hour. After being forced to leave by security guards, a group of white men stormed out the restaurant, attacking the students. Some were beaten unconscious.

Richardson, who became a billionaire in the fast food industry has also been accused of hurling racial slurs at a Black sports scout.
