Some sections of the opposition have threatened to attack polling stations and voting machines.

The President of Venezuela's National Electoral Council, CNE, Tibisay Lucena, says qualified voters can cast their ballots for the Constituent Assembly election on July 30 at any polling center in the municipality where they are registered.

Lucena said that due to the opposition's threats of violence, the CNE, to defend Venezuelans' right to vote, will guarantee that anyone who cannot use their own polling station can do so in alternative or contingency centers.

"Faced with these anti-democratic threats, the Electoral Power takes the following measures to ensure the exercise of the vote: All voters and voters can vote at any polling place in the municipality where they are registered," said the president of Venezuela's highest electoral body.

The CNE reported that 53 of the 335 municipalities in the country have been affected by targeted political violence.

"A few people are trying to maintain the anxiety, threatening the population not only to attack the polling stations but also the voting machines to prevent the elections on July 30," said Lucena.

On Friday, Office of the United Nations High Commissioner for Human Rights spokeswoman, Liz Throssell, addressed the right of every Venezuelan to vote or not, urging for the respect of President Maduro's democratic process on Sunday.

The electoral body says 96 percent of the polling stations have been installed "successfully," ahead of Sunday's vote.

In the capital Caracas, voters in the municipalities of Chacao, Baruta, Sucre and El Hatillo, Miranda state, as well as El Valle, La Vega and El Paraíso, Libertador municipality, may exercise their right to vote in The Polyhedron of Caracas.

The contingency centers will also operate in Aragua, Barinas, Bolívar, Carabobo, Cojedes, Falcón, Lara, Merida, Nueva Esparta, Portuguesa, Sucre, Táchira, Trujillo, Vargas and Zulia.
