Panama was shaken by a tremor measuring 5.6 on the Richter scale at 8:47 p.m. local time. The epicenter was in the province of Darien near the border with Colombia, according to the Geosciences Institute. No damage has been reported, in the quake that was felt across the country.

"At this time we confirm that there is no major damage after earthquake reported on the border of Panama and Colombia. OFFICIAL INFORMATION," Jose Donderis, General Director of the National System of Civil Protection Panama, wrote on his Twitter account.

At 9:12 p.m. local time, another earthquake was registered in the Ecuadorean province of Chimborazo. The city of Cumanda was the epicenter of this 6.5-magnitude telluric movement, which caused some damage to buildings. This earthquake was also felt in the northern regions of Peru.

"The characteristics of the earthquake do not meet the necessary conditions to generate a tsunami in the continental and insular region of Ecuador," the Oceanographic Institute of the Navy stated.

Finally, at 9:39 p.m. another quake was felt in Chile. The tremor measured 5.8 on the Richter scale with an epicenter in the central regions of Chile, about 35 kilometers away from Alto del Carmen, the Chilean Seismologic National Center reported. No tsunami alert rose in this case either.

"No damage is reported to people, alteration to basic services or infrastructure resulting from this earthquake," said the Ministry of the Interior and Public Security of Chile.
