Bolivia might advance its claim to regain its coastal region from Chile, while Donald Trump and Vladimir Putin would need calm as they lead their nations.

On the shores of Lima's Green Coast, a group of Peruvian shamans performed Thursday an annual ritual in which they predicted events to come during 2017, and among them they saw new conflicts for Europe and progress in Bolivia's maritime claim from Chile.

During the ritual, the religious figures displayed photographs of politicians such as Bolivian President Evo Morales, Peruvian President Pedro Pablo Kuczynski and Venezuelan President Nicolas Maduro,

Particular attention was paid to the images of Russian President Vladimir Putin and U.S. President-elect Donald Trump, who the shamans said would need to exercise “calm” as they carry on their duties.

"They are competing for military power. Putin has declared that his country, Russia, is more armed than the United States," said Juan Osco, also known as the Shaman of the Andes.

Osco, who is from the southern region of Ayacucho, told EFE news agency that he had predicted in the past the "double victory" that President Barack Obama obtained in the United States.

The shaman also expressed his "sadness" because he predicted conflicts will continue in Europe in 2017 and said there will be “some attacks” carried out near Spain.

He also said the head of the Spanish government, Mariano Rajoy, will be in the face "conflicts," because "there are enemies at his side who do not want to see him succeed."

Osco also predicted an "exit to the sea” for Bolivia, meaning that the country would will make some gains in their claim to the coastal region taken by Chile in 1879 during the War of the Pacific.

The shaman said Bolivia will make progress for its claim through documents and evidence submitted in its case against Chile before the International Court Of Justice of The Hague.

That would allow Bolivian leader Morales to be "politically favored," while Chilean President Michelle Bachelet will have to "be careful” with tension on the Bolivian side, he added.

"We want Bolivia to go to the sea, so we are going to do a ritual, we are going to take some sea water and throw it in the Bolivian government palace in La Paz."

Referring to natural disasters, Osco said he visualized "droughts, tornadoes or tsunamis," because "Mother Earth is upset, her heart is bleeding, she's hurt."

On the situation in Peru, the shaman predicted that President Kuczynski will suffer some health problems and "will have to be a little stronger and more determined with the Peruvian people."

He considered that the leader, who will hold the position until July 2021, should "let him rule and he will favor."

Osco went on to explain that in order to access "the past, present or future," he carries out a nighttime ritual with ayahuasca and San Pedro cactus, both highly hallucinogenic plants used in shamanic rituals.

"We take San Pedro and ayahuasca and visualize what is going to happen," he told EFE, adding that seeing the future is a power "only possessed by those teachers who are at a higher level."

Ayahuasca is considered a healing plant according to the beliefs of many Amazonian peoples of Peru, who say it helps healing problems related to the mind.

The rituals the shamans carry out at the sea every year seek to bring tranquility and peace of mind in the upcoming year, Osco said, adding that in order to have good luck in 2017 one would need to have “six yellow-colored fruits” and “pass a quince (fruit) over the whole body” and then “blow on it.”

This will “change your life,” he concluded.
