People have taken to Twitter to show their anger at the U.K.’s airstrikes in Syria using the #NotInMyName hashtag.

Since the British government voted in favor of airstrikes on Islamic State group targets in Syria Wednesday, Twitter has been awash with people venting their frustration at the decision.

Prime Minister David Cameron, who pushed for military action, won the vote with a clear majority but it appears the views of the U.K. government are not representative of its people.

The #NotInMyName hashtag is being used by British citizens and many from across the world to show their dismay that the U.K. is going to war in the Middle East yet again.

Welsh pop singer Charlotte Church took to the Internet to voice her opinions on the airstrikes, which began just hours after the bill passed through the House of Commons.

While activists from numerous political parties showed their stance.

Former England and West Ham winger Trevor Sinclair was another who denounced the attacks on Syria via Twitter.

British citizens also voiced their concern at their government's decision for further military intervention in the Middle East in a series of protests in London this week.

Thousands attended the peaceful anti-war demonstrations Wednesday while politicians cast their votes in parliament.

The #NotInMyName Twitter campaign was used in 2014 by a group of young British Muslims fighting back at the Islamic State group militants. Anti-war protesters also used the phrase when the U.S. and other countries started bombing Afghanistan and Iraq in 2001 and 2003.

Now Twitter users have adopted the hashtag in unison with Muslims and to show their solidarity with the Syrian people.
