While the media is busy bashing Bernie Sanders supporters for flipping the number of delegates in his favor in Nevada, the National Nurses Union said that the real fraud happened during the February caucus, when casinos manipulated workers into voting for Hillary Clinton.
“Where was the reporting then by the same media now so shocked that people remain angry over an unfair process?” said National Nurses United co-president Deborah Burger in a statement released Thursday. “Saturday was just a culmination of conduct by the Nevada Democratic Party and the Democratic National Committee,” referring to the state convention in which Sanders supporters were heckled for demanding a recount and an answer for the exclusion of Sanders delegates.
The press release lists five ways, with multiple examples by union observers, in which casino management in Las Vegas secured a Clinton victory.
The casino directors, according to Burger, carefully monitored workers as they went to vote, deciding when and where they could vote — sometimes with lines too long for their lunch breaks — and giving false instructions, without correcting them.
Clinton supporters, some not registered to enter the caucuses, gave speeches and handed out information sheets through management, while Sanders supporters were told they were not allowed to flyer.
The nurses union had requested U.N. election observers following the caucus after they spotted Clinton campaigners posing as union members in red shirts, rather than blue ones.
Clark County, the largest in the state due to Las Vegas, awarded little under 1,000 delegates for Clinton in the first round of the caucus, but after the second and third stages of allocating delegates, Sanders came on top.
“Going forward to Philadelphia and beyond, the Democratic Party must make it clear that it will not again sanction the type of corrupt process we witnessed in Nevada. You can’t let a wound fester,” said Burger.
