According to Mexican authorities, the bodies of 81 men, four women and 27 fetuses were buried in unmarked graves in Chihuahua state.
"The majority [61 of the 112 deceased] is due to natural causes... [there was one suicide], some accidental deaths and others resulting from homicides," Guzman noted.
Last July, 43 bodies were also buried, and some 70 others are currently awaiting interment in the Semefo.
"Everyone has their photographic studio, their medical studies and the genetic profile, which is very important in case there is a subsequent claim by their relatives," Chihuahua prosecutor office’s Joselyn Guzman told AFP.
The remains of the deceased - who were all unclaimed - had been in the custody of the local Forensic Medical Service, since 2017.
Industrial equipment assisted in the burial of the bodies - under the supervision of forensic officials - at the San Rafael cemetery in Ciudad Juarez. City officials have placed the number of homicide at 998 homicides, in 2018, so far.
Chihuahua is located in northern Mexico and borders with the United States. The violence-plagued state is one of the territories overrun by drug cartels.
