In one of the most prolific sibling rivalries in sporting history, Serena Williams beat her sister Venus by two sets to one to progress to the semifinal of the U.S. Open tennis tournament.
The crowd-drawing women both have two U.S. Open titles under their belts before late night show-down in New York Tuesday, though Serena held the edge with eight Grand Slams to Venus’s five. She has now beaten her sister 16 times out of 27 matches.

Serena took the first set 6 - 2, only to be thrashed by her big sister in the second 6 - 1. The final, thrilling set saw the younger sibling triumph 6 - 3.
Serving 12 aces, Serena had huge praise for Venus in the post-match interview.
"It's a really great moment. She is the toughest player I've played in my life and she is the best person I know. I'm going against my best friend and the greatest competitor in women's tennis, in my mind, so it is a tough day,” she said.
"When I'm playing her I don't think of her as my sister, when we're in the moment you don't really think about it. We've trained all our lives for these moments and it is a great honour to play in front of everyone here.
Wish this was the finals @usopen, amazing nonetheless; history before our eyes. #SerenavsVenus
