“New and different ways to reach peace must be tried,” U.S. President Donald Trump's son-in-law said on Tuesday.
According to Kushner, “the two-state solution failed,” which is why he is going to unveil a new peace plan this Summer.
Kushner stated that he wants to emphasize economic benefits for the Palestinians and security for the Israelis in his new peace plan.
However, Kushner's plan will face many obstacles, including the rejection of the contingency by the Palestinian Authority.
The President of the Palestinian Authority, Mahmoud Abbas, has already called on the Arab League states to band together and reject the plan.
"Israel has disrupted relevant agreements, trampled on international laws and disrespected the United Nations resolutions, all under the support of the United States. How can we solve the Middle East issue in this case?" Abbas stated.
In a statement following the meeting, the Arab League reaffirmed political and economic supports for Palestine, and reiterated support for the two-state solution on the 1967 borders.
