Vazquez and Argentine President Mauricio Macri will announce the bid on Aug. 30.

Vazquez said that Macri will travel to the Uruguayan city of Colonia in the southwest of the country for the event, where both governments will seek the official nomination.

Representatives from the soccer federations of each country will meet with ministry officials to discuss the members of their work team and launch the campaign.

South Korea and Japan have been the only countries to jointly-host the tournament.

Meanwhile, Canada, Mexico, and the United States announced that they will also present a joint bid for the 2026 World Cup. If accepted, it would be the first time that three counties host the event.

Russia has already been selected to host the FIFA World Cup in 2018. Qatar won the bid for the 2022 event.

The national teams of Argentina and Uruguay will play on Aug. 31 as part of the qualifiers for the 2018 World Cup.

The year 2030 will mark the 100th anniversary of the first soccer world cup organized by the International Federation of Association Football, FIFA, which was played from July 13 until July 30, 1930 in Uruguay.

At the time, Argentina and Uruguay played the final match, which the Uruguayan team won. Argentina also hosted the event once in 1978, under the military dictatorship and won the final against the Netherlands.

Both countries seek FIFA's approval as soon as possible in order to begin remodeling their sports stadiums and infrastructure. The international body will make a final decision in 2023.
