Several countries have defied popular global stance in showing support for the move of the U.S. embassy from Tel Aviv to Jerusalem, amid thousands of Palestinians protesting.

Albania, Angola, Austria, Cameroon, Congo, the Democratic Republic of the Congo, Ivory Coast, Czech Republic, Dominican Republic, El Salvador, Ethiopia, Georgia, Guatemala, Honduras, Hungary, Kenya, Macedonia, Burma, Nigeria, Panama, Peru, the Philippines, Romania, Rwanda, Serbia, South Sudan, Thailand, Ukraine, Vietnam, Paraguay, Tanzania and Zambia are all expected to have representatives at the ceremony.

Four reps are from European Union nations – which opposed the move of the embassy.

About 32 of 86 envoys accepted invitations to Sunday's reception. The entire Israeli congress expected to attend the launch event.

U.S. President Donald Trump's special advisor and daughter, Ivanka Trump, and her husband Jared Kushner are among the U.S. delegation which is set to spearhead the embassy's launch event. According to the Associated Press, the dedication ceremony will be held at the U.S. consulate’s visa section in Jerusalem.

The relocation ceremony coincides with the 70th anniversary of the country's independence., one day ahead of Nakba - which resulted in some 700,000 people force fleeing their homes after the state of Israel was established in 1948.

“We look forward to celebrating Israel’s 70th anniversary and the bright future ahead,” Ivanka wrote on Instagram. “We will pray for the boundless potential of the future of the US-Israel alliance, and we will pray for peace.”

Palestinians have long-claim East Jerusalem as the capital of a future state.

The international community, the majority of which has embassies in Tel Aviv, agree that the future of Jerusalem should be a part of the broader deal between Israel and Palestine. But, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has said he will not give up any part of Jerusalem.

Last December, Trump controversially recognized Jerusalem as Israel’s capital. “Today, we finally acknowledge the obvious: that Jerusalem is Israel’s capital. This is nothing more or less than a recognition of reality. It is also the right thing to do.

“After more than two decades of waivers, we are no closer to a lasting peace agreement between Israel and the Palestinians. It would be folly to assume that repeating the exact same formula would now produce a different or better result.”

Netanyahu is scheduled to meet with Kushner, according to Haaretz.
