The attacks were carried out at 2:42 am local time on Thursday morning, and “caused two deaths and material damages,” according to the Syrian Army Command General.

“This aggression comes in a desperate attempt to raise the collapsed morale of the ISIS terrorists after the sweeping victories achieved by the Syrian Arab Army against terrorism at more than one front, and it affirms the direct support provided by the Israeli entity to the ISIS and other terrorist organizations,” the Army Command said in a statement according to the Syrian news agency SANA.

The Syrian Army said that “such hostile acts” will have “dangerous repercussions” for the “security and stability of the region.”

According to early reports by Israeli media, the attack was carried out on a scientific research facility, but the Syrian army has not yet specified the type of facility attacked.

The Israeli army has not officially claimed the attacks or released a statement, only saying they do not comment on "operational matters." Israel has previously attacked Syrian targets, most recently bombing a military airport a month ago.

The attacks come on the tail of the key victories of the Syrian Arab Army, backed by Russia, against the so-called Islamic State group in the Deir Ez-Zor region and city, which has been under seige for three years by the terrorist group, putting residents of the city under conditions of a dire humanitarian crisis.
