The Iran's Foreign Minister traveled to Damascus on Tuesday to meet with the Syrian President and Syrian Foreign Minister.
The Foreign Minister of Iran, Mohammad Javad Zarif, arrived in Damascus on Tuesday to meet with Syrian President Bashar Al-Assad, Prime Minister Imad Khamis, and Foreign Minister Walid Muallem, the Sputnik News Agency reported.
Zarif is meeting with the Syrian government on behalf of Iranian President Hassan Rouhani.
The Iranian Foreign Minister landed in Damascus this afternoon, where he was greeted by Syria's Deputy Foreign Minister Faisal Mikdad.
This is Zarif's first visit to Damascus since his resignation was announced in late February.
The Iranian President reportedly rejected Zarif's resignation and asked him to return to his post as Foreign Minister.
