The “quintessential story of punk” will premiere March 11 on EPIX.

Iggy Pop, the Godfather of Punk and lead singer of The Stooges, is the executive producer of an all-star docuseries titled “Punk,” scheduled to premiere in the United States channel Epix on March 11.

Blondie’s Debbie Harry, Sex Pistols’ John Lydon, Marky Ramone, the Dead Kennedys’ Jello Biafra, and Flea of the Red Hot Chili Peppers are among the artist who will collaborate in the project, which aims to be a “quintessential story of punk.”

In four parts, “Punk explores the music, the fashion, the art and the DIY (do it yourself) attitude of a subculture of self-described misfits and outcasts,” the synopsis reads.

The series is being produced by fashion designer and rock fan John Varvatos, who in 2007 bought the place where the iconic CBGB music club, which witnessed the rise of Blondie and The Ramones, among others, stood.

The bar was to be razed to give way to a bank. Varvatos managed to open a store there and keep some of the CBGB’s walls intact.

Of the series, Varvatos said: “Exploring and reliving the history of punk has been an absolute labor of love for me. Punk’s ability to transcend generations in its culture, music, and style is a story that needs to be told.

According to an EPIX statement the docuseries will feature original interviews, “alongside a seamless blend of rare and unseen photos, gritty archival film and video, a crackling soundtrack of punk hits and misses.”
