Cristina Escobar conducts today’s interview at the Cuban Fine Arts Museum with Peter Turnley, the first U.S. citizen since the Cuban revolution to have a solo exhibition there. “Moments of the Human Condition” features photographs taken in more than 90 countries over the last 40 years. Turnley tells how he became a photographer and what led him to witness some of the most important events of the last half century, such as the fall of the Berlin Wall and the release of Nelson Mandela from prison. He also explains what has drawn him to visit Cuba many times during the last 27 years and what he loves about it.
