Wednesday's rally follows weeks of right-wing protests against President Correa’s plans to increase inheritance taxes on the wealthy to address longstanding inequality. Many of those protests turned violent. 

Supporters of the leftist government of Rafael Correa marched through the capital of Quito Wednesday before arriving in a plaza in the historic center of the city, where demonstrators will maintain a presence in front of the presidential palace.
