Beslan Butba was attacked when he was traveling with his family.

Abkhazia's Attorney General Office has began an investigation over the attack that suffered the country's Prime Minister, Belsan Butba, on Saturday.

Butba was traveling in a car with his family when he was assaulted on Saturday night, he received bodily injuries but the attackers have been captured. 

The attackers were detained and are being questioned at the Interior Ministry. Abkhazia's police said that the two suspects were intoxicated with alcohol.

According to the news site The Speaker, the Prime Minister suffered a concussion and was attended in a hospital before going home.

According to Spanish newspaper El Informador, Butba was attacked after thousands rallied in the streets to protest against his government.

Abkhazia is recognized as an independent republic by countries as Russia, Nicaragua, Venezuela, and Nauru, while the UN and western countries considers it part of Georgia.
